5 Sharp Ideas for Sports Teams

The sports collections our users create really knock it out of the park. We’ve seen some super-organized fee roundups, season ticket sales, stylish fan merchandise, sponsor sign-ups, and gift donations for coaches. For just a tiny glimpse at some of the recent best, here are five ideas created by Cheddar Up users — and easily replicated by you! Home Run Heroes

In Lucas, Texas, elementary-aged students could purchase a night with local celebrities — players on the high school varsity baseball team. For $100, these “Home Run Heroes” received free admission to home games, a varsity player “buddy” for one game, and the chance to participate in the National Anthem with the team, as well as a T-shirt, photo op, and team poster. All proceeds benefited the Lovejoy Leopard Diamond Booster Club.

Swim Merch Shop

We see a lot of sports spirit wear and fan merch, but we especially loved this very official “storefront” from a high school swim and dive team. Their coach used a Cheddar Up collection to organize the team’s gear purchases — specifically warm-up pants, T-shirts and hoodies — aided by item variations to track sizing. This collection also included an automatic-closing date, a feature we created specifically to help sellers manage order deadlines.

Tryout Shout-Outs
As an encouraging nudge for girls trying out for the Argyle High School (Texas) Majestics Drill Team, the booster club offered parents $10 personalized shout-outs posted on the team’s social media pages. Shout-outs were posted in the order received throughout the week leading up to tryouts. Additional posts were also available for $5.

Soccer Clinic for Kids and Young Adults with Disabilities
A service-learning group from Vestavia Hills High School in Birmingham, Alabama, teamed up with the Birmingham Legion USL professional soccer team to offer a 90-minute, Sunday afternoon soccer clinic for individuals 4-years-old and older living with developmental and physical disabilities. All proceeds from the $25 entry benefitted a local adolescent and young adult cancer center.

Summer Sports Camp Roundup

Fort Worth Christian School in North Richland Hills, Texas, created a beautiful, comprehensive registration site for its entire roster of summer sports camps. We love this use to help not only the school manage all programming in one place, but also so parents can easily see all the options. This collection is also a perfect case study for our waivers feature — all essential payments and documents are collected at the same time to ensure students are able to participate well before camps begin.
